Executive Editor-in-Chief
Caitlin Urban is a fourth-year medical student at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. Prior to medical school, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in biomolecular science with a minor in French in 2016 followed by a master’s degree in Physiology in 2019, both from the University of Michigan. She is in the process of applying to a residency in general surgery. Outside of medicine, she enjoys trail running, reading, and cooking.
Associate Editors
Dakota Burke is a fourth-year medical student at the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from Eastern Michigan University in 2018. Dakota is interested in a career in Emergency Medicine and is currently applying to residency. When not studying, he enjoys working out, hiking, playing golf, reading, and playing with his dog, Moose.
Usra Ghanem is a fifth-year medical student at Al-Quds University. Prior to being the Associate Editor, she was a reviewer for MSRJ. She is passionate about research which led her to contribute to the research field thus far. Her primary interests include dermatology and radiology.
Ranganath Kathawate is a second-year medical student at Wayne State University School of Medicine. A 2020 graduate of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, he taught high school biology prior to his matriculation to medical school and eagerly anticipates a career in academic medicine. A lifelong Pistons fan, he enjoys watching action movies, visiting local ice cream parlors, and taking walks around Downtown Detroit.
Jake Sypniewski is a second-year medical student at MSU CHM. Prior to medical school, Jake earned his Bachelor of Arts from Kalamazoo College in 2016 studying chemistry and biochemistry, while also playing varsity football for all 4 years. He then became a research fellow at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD before starting medical school. For specialty choice, Jake is interested in vascular surgery, general surgery, or neurosurgery. Jake likes to work out, golf, and play pickleball in his free time.
MSRJ Elective Leader
Cielo Robles is a second-year medical student at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. She is the MSRJ 2023-2024 Elective Leader. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, spending time with family/friends, and watching Formula 1 racing.
